What is the Modern Body?

A body that moves well (pain free), functional to everyday activities, looks fit and importantly – feels great!

In order to get there, you’ll need to start building a body that’s not only improving with strength & body awareness, but also has the necessary pre-requisites to help you move efficiently and without risk of injury.

Everyone has to start somewhere, so we’ve made it easy for you to understand where to start (based on your current level of strength & movement patterns). Our goal is to encourage as many people to participate in all our classes, so our initial assessment will give us good feedback to ensure we recommend the right classes for you and demonstrate a clear path of progression.

Functional Strength Class

A 60-minute strength based program designed to get you stronger, build lean muscle, lose weight and help you move better. Functional strength training involves doing exercises that are more dynamic and full body movements (vs. isolating particular muscles that a traditional gym machine does). This type of training works multiple muscles during a single exercise, and we use a combination of bodyweight (gymnastics strength) and weighted exercises (coupled with mobility, pre-hab & core exercises), to help provide our members with a unique style of training that gets them results whilst ensuring proper technique is demonstrated.

Our Functional Strength Class is the perfect place to start (especially if you’re getting back into fitness or looking to just build strength – such as a pull-up), as it slows things down and helps you learn good technique and develop better body awareness. Our 3-level strength program (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced), helps ensure we have you doing the right exercise and progression (based on your current level of strength and mobility). This class coupled with a Strength & Conditioning Class will certainly help you build a body that’s bullet proof, lean and strong!

Gymnastics Strength Class

This class largely focuses on bodyweight strength exercises that leverage off the principles and foundations derived from gymnastics strength training. All exercises are scalable (making it achievable for the more novice participant), but the real exciting factor here is the growth journey you can undertake! Working on these key strength foundations quickly opens the door to more advanced skills like pull-up & dip variations, straight arm work, muscle-ups, handstands and other skills on the rings! A typical session starts with 20 minutes of mobility, before a solid core workout, skill development (or exercise progression), then specific strength work. We have participants from 20 to 55 years of age, male & female. If you’re looking to improve your gymnastics strength, core & body awareness and start learning some new skills, then this class has it all!

Handstand Class

Everyone loves a handstand! This popular class is designed for all fitness enthusiasts (regardless of experiences), with the overarching goal of helping people become better connected with their bodies through improving body awareness, body control, mobility, strength and of course, overcoming fears of getting upside down (one progression at a time). It’s a compact 60-minute class that’s split up into a Novice and an Advanced Class. The first 30 minutes is dedicated to all the relevant body preparation required to then start getting upside down in the second 30 minutes of the class.

Adult Gymnastics Class

Adult gymnastics is a 60-minute skills based program that takes people through a whole different experience when it comes to exercising, challenging the body and having fun. Whether you’re an ex-gymnast or completely new to gymnastics, our experienced coaching team will have you covered and ensure you work on the skills that tick your goals (in a safe controlled environment). Our coaches get to know all class participants well over time, and begin to scale and progress exercises based on their current level.

Everyone will go through the basics (as it pertains to tumbling, jumping & handstands), and our more experienced participants will work towards mastering handsprings, somersaults and other challenging tumbling skills. Although there’s a large focus on tumbling in the program (aided by the use of our trampolines and air tracks), every session also includes a structured warm-up (mobility & strength) as well as exploring skills on other apparatuses (i.e Rings, Parallel bars, Bars,Mini Tramp, mushroom and floor). Everyone who participates in adult gymnastics finds it exhilarating, fun and wanting to learn those skills even more!
