What is the Modern Body?

Our goal is to help you build a body that is stronger, flexible, lean, mobile, confident and capable of anything!

Our unconventional training methods will help bullet proof your body, whilst looking good and feeling great!

Functional Strength Class

A 60-minute strength based program designed to help you build a body that’s strong, flexible, lean, mobile and confident.

Our program is a hybrid of gymnastics strength training coupled with weighted exercises, prehab and flexibility. This type of unconventional training will often give you the best results.

Functional strength exercises largely consist of full body movements which target multiple muscles during a single exercise – especially your core.

Our program is scalable for all ages and abilities. We’ll make sure you’re doing each exercise with proper technique and help progress you once the foundations are getting stronger. One of our biggest value adds is coaching and the small group style of classes we offer.

Don’t be afraid to take on new challenges – you are capable of more than you know!

Class Times: Monday 6:00am, 6:30am, 9:00am, 5:45pm
Tuesday 6:00am, 6:30am, 5:45pm
Friday 6:00am, 6:30am, 9:00am

Gymnastics Strength Class

This class largely focuses on bodyweight strength exercises that leverage off the foundations derived from gymnastics strength training. All exercises are scalable (making it achievable for the more novice participant), but the real exciting factor here is the journey you can undertake as it pertains to building solid strength (that keeps you lean, strong and mobile) as well as learning new skills (making class fun and exciting).

Once the foundations are in place, it quickly opens the door to more advanced skills like pull-up and dip variations, straight arm work (front levers and planche), strict toes-to-bar, muscle-ups, handstands and a whole bunch of awesome skills on the rings and bar!

A typical session starts with 20 minutes of mobility, before a solid core workout, skill development (or exercise progression), then specific strength work. We have participants from 15 to 70 years of age who regularly attend this program and have achieved some amazing results.

Don’t be afraid to take on big challenges and adopt unconventional training methods. This will often give you the best results!

Class Times: Tuesday 6:00am, 6:30am, 5:45pm
Friday 6:00am, 6:30am

Strength and Conditioning Class

A 60 minute class designed to help you build strength and muscular endurance, as well as improve your overall fitness.
Similar to the Functional Strength Class, this program starts with a structured warm-up, followed by a strength component and conditioning workout to finish.
Our members choose Modbod due to the unique type of strength, core and mobility training we offer. Taking this into account, we’ve restricted our Strength and Conditioning program to just one day a week (Wednesdays). We also choose exercises, structures and weights that align with our culture and  style of training we offer (i.e gives you a good sweat, but doesn’t break you down).

Class format typically looks like:
Warm-up (get warm, stretch, pre-hab and activation work)
Strength training (2 circuits that focus on the full body)
Conditioning workout (can be between 6-12 minutes of high intensity Interval training)

Class Times: Wednesday 6:00am, 6:30am, 9:00am, 5:30pm

Adult Gymnastics (Tumbling)

Adult gymnastics is a 60-minute skills based program that takes you through a whole different experience when it comes to exercising and challenging your body. Whether you’re an ex-gymnast or completely new to gymnastics, our qualified gymnastics coaches will have you covered when it comes to learning new skills and getting stronger, whilst keeping to your level (ability and fitness wise).

The class is structured from start to end to ensure all participants feel included. Each session starts with a group warm-up (mobility, stretch and body preparation), before moving onto some core, handstand and lower body exercises that further get the body prepared for skill work (especially tumbling). We then move onto the fun equipment (air tracks, long trampoline, bouncy trampolines into the foam pit and mini tramp set-ups), where the class will work through specific drills and skills based on where each individual is at. For example, someone doing a handspring, may need the help of the boulder or cylinder (as well as coaches assist) to help aid the skill.

Although the general focus leans towards tumbling, we still have the coaching capacity to help with any skills on bars and rings.

Everyone who participates in adult gymnastics finds it exhilarating and a fun way to exercise! Come and drop in and join the fun (casuals are welcome).

Class Times: Thursday 6:30pm
