About

This dynamic 60-minute class is the perfect foundation for aspiring gymnasts looking to master key floor skills in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

What Your Child Will Learn

  • Core Tumbling Skills: We teach the essentials, including handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and foundational work for back bends and assisted front somersaults and handsprings.
  • Skill Goal: The primary goal is to empower every participant to confidently execute an unassisted handstand, cartwheel, and a round-off with a rebound by the end of the program.

The Modbod Difference: Strength & Fun

We believe that true tumbling success comes from a strong, agile body. This class goes beyond just practicing skills by emphasising strength-building in every session:

  • Full-Body Training: We use a variety of equipment-including bars, rings, and wall bars-to dramatically improve upper body strength and core control, directly complementing tumbling exercises.
  • Specialised Equipment: Participants utilise our specialised equipment, like air tracks and trampolines, to safely practice and perfect new tumbling moves.
  • Agile & Controlled Bodies: Your child will develop a strong, agile, and controlled body while having a fantastic time.

About

This 90-minute class is the next evolutionary step for athletes with a solid tumbling foundation, focusing on linking complex skills into fluid, powerful sequences.

Class Details & Core Objectives

This programme is ideal for those progressing from Intermediate Tumbling or external athletes who already possess strong foundational skills (such as an unassisted round-off back handspring on trampoline or air track).

  • Duration: All Advanced Tumbling sessions run for 90 minutes.

  • Advanced Conditioning: Strength training and muscular endurance are integral parts of the curriculum, ensuring participants have the physical capability to execute and control these higher-level movements safely.
  •

Program Benefits

Beyond skill acquisition, Advanced Tumbling promotes a holistic approach to fitness and development:

  • Skill Development: Acquire new, complex abilities within a positive and non-competitive setting.
  • Physical Fitness: Maintain a high level of physical fitness, strength, and agility.
  • Welcoming Environment: The programme is accessible to experienced newcomers, including previous gymnasts, who meet the prerequisite skill level.
  •

If your child is ready to combine their skills and master the challenging elements of sequence tumbling, this Advanced programme will provide the perfect blend of technique, strength, and progression.

Have a question? Here are the ones parents ask us most.

Every child is different, but many children working through our Beginner Gymnastics or Beginner Tumbling program see a functional cartwheel emerge within one to two terms when attending weekly. The key is consistent attendance and the correct foundational progressions — which is exactly what our structured classes deliver. If your daughter has a specific deadline, such as a dance concert in Term 3, we'd encourage you to book a trial class as early as possible so our coaches can assess where she is starting from and place her in the right program to give her the best chance of hitting that goal.

The Tumbling Program is exactly what your daughter needs. It is a floor-based program focused specifically on the biomechanics of power and agility — handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and progressions towards flips and back walkovers. Beginner Tumbling builds the cartwheel and handstand foundations, while Intermediate Tumbling focuses on mastering round-offs and working toward the round-off back handspring. If your daughter has a Term 3 deadline, we would recommend booking a trial class as soon as possible so we can assess her current level and place her in the right program to hit that goal in time.

Skill progression at Modbod is structured, measurable, and transparent. Around Week 4 of each term, coaches conduct baseline testing across core skills, and the results are recorded as Star Ratings in the Modbod App under Evaluations — so you can literally see where your child started and how far they have come. Progression through our program pathways (from Beginner through Intermediate to Advanced) is based on competency and technical readiness, not simply age or time served. When your child is ready to move up, they move up.

Yes — and this is something Modbod does extremely well. Our Advanced Tumbling and Intermediate programs are technically rigorous, and a child coming in with an existing gymnastics foundation will be placed in a class that genuinely challenges her from day one. Our "Upward Trajectory" philosophy means we always place students where they are stretched, not where they coast. One quality session per week — with the right coaching, the right progression, and the right environment — is enough to maintain and continue building real skills, while giving your daughter her weekends and her love of the sport back.

In 2024, all kids enrolled in a term-based program will need to pay an annual Insurance, Rego and Membership fee of $55-to-$80/child based on the enrolled program. This will cover the child for personal injury insurance during the calendar year, and anyone joining a class in term 4 will have a slightly reduced fee.

Modbod Kids affiliated with Gymnastics NSW in Mid-2021, allowing the business to become a registered gymnastics club. This helps us with ticking some very important boxes.

1. Adequate Gymnastics Public Liability Insurance
2. Accredited gymnastics coaches (and ensuring all staff are up to date with their first aid, Working With Children Check, Child Protection and other educational courses provided by Gymnastic Australia)
3. Personal injury insurance for all kids who take part in any of our programs (subject to paying a one-off annual insurance fee).

Why must every child be insured?
Under our Gymnastics Public Liability Insurance, all kids are insured for up to 30 days (which means holiday programs, birthday parties and trials are all covered). However, when a child goes beyond the 30 days (such as in the case of a term program), they must have personal injury insurance in place (which is an extra one-off cost that we need to charge for and then transfer across to Gymnastics NSW).

What is Personal Injury Insurance?
It’s designed to offer some peace of mind to club members (i.e. the kids) by having protection for certain costs related to injury sustained whilst involved in any gym activities. Coverage is split into 3 components:
Capital Benefits – claimable in the event of death or permanent disability
Non-Medicare Medical – provides reimbursement for items that are not claimable in any way through Medicare. However, due to government legislation, the Medicare Gap cannot be claimed.

The following expenses are generally covered:
physio and chiro treatment, dental treatment, ambulance transport, private hospital treatment
The following are not covered:
Doctor’s fees, X-rays, public hospital costs, surgeon‘s fees (which are all generally covered by Medicare)
